First Tee Youth Programs FAQs
If my participant is new to First Tee and golf, at which level should they start?
A: New participants with no golf experience will start at Division I in the Player Development Academy Powered by Op36 and PLAYer level (ages 7+) or Little Legends (ages 4-6) in our Life Skills Experience Golf Program. We encourage, but do not require, particpants to be enrolled in both the Player Development Academy and Life Skills Experience Golf Programs.
If my participant is a golfer but new to The First Tee, at which level should they start?

Is experience necessary to participate?
A: No experience is necessary. We will teach you everything you need to know!
How do I register and pay for programs?
A: Visit our website, www.thefirstteerva.org, and click the desired program you wish to register for under the youth programs tab. You will see a register button; once you click register, you will be directed to our registration portal and can complete registration and payment. All registrations and payment must be completed online prior to the start of class. We cannot accept payment at the facilities.
What is the cost for youth programs?
A: Life Skills Experience Golf Programs:
- Little Legends Session (1 hour per week for 8-weeks): $80
- PLAYer and Par Session (1 hour per week for 8-weeks ): $80
- Birdie, Eagle, and Ace Session (1.5 hour per week for 8-weeks): $120
- Golf Camp Full Day (Mon-Fri 9:30-3:30 pm): $200
- Golf Camp Half Day (Mon-Fri 9:30-12:30 pm): $120
- Junior Camp (Mon-Thru 9:30-12:30 pm): $100
Player Development Academy Programs powered by Op36:
- Academy Program (1 hour class and 1.5 hour course play): 10-weeks, $250 and 5-weeks $125
- Academy Camps (Mon-Fri 9:00-3:00 pm): $275
Where do we meet for class?
A: In the program room (Tattersall) or the community room (Elson Redmond) unless otherwise specified.
How do we know if youth programs are cancelled for weather?
A: We will never cancel youth programs due to rain however, if there is threatening weather you will receive an email with direction and detail.
What should my participant wear to class?
A: Golf attire is preferred but not required. Please also make sure your participant is wearing athletic footwear.
Does my participant need golf clubs?
A: If your participant has their own clubs, we encourage them to bring them to youth programs. For those who do not have clubs, we will provide any necessary equipment.
If my participant cannot attend a program, can they attend a different class during the week as a make-up?
A: Due to our programs reaching max capacity, we can no longer offer make up options.
As a parent or guardian, what should I expect or do during programs?
A: Parents are welcome to stay and observe, but it is not a requirement. We ask that parents who are observing do not enter the class room and stick to a “cart path only” rule unless there is an emergency.
Are parents or guardians allowed to participate in programs?
A: While we welcome you to stay and observe our programs, we ask that parents and guardians refrain from participating in the class. Should you be interested in volunteering, please visit our website, www.thefirstteerva.org, and complete a volunteer application.
